Getting rid of standing water is the most effective way to reduce mosquitoes at a construction site.
- Dump, turn over or cover anything that gathers water
- Create holes to drain water from containers that can’t be thrown out
- Empty clogged rain gutters and fill pot holes and ditches
- Keep tarps flat to avoid water pooling
- Throw away fast food containers, cups, cans and bottles
- Keep bins covered and regularly empty
- Fill with sand or apply Aquatain
- Use mosquito dunks (BTI) in standing water which can’t be emptied
- Use DEET based insect repellent and wear long sleeved clothes and long pants to prevent bites
