Hearing Screening
Your child’s hearing was tested as part of the B4 School check.
No hearing problems were found.
This check picks up most hearing problems. Some children who passed this check may develop a hearing problem later.
Keeping an eye on your child’s hearing
If your child has learning or reading difficulties, or speech which is unclear or hard to understand, this may mean they may have a hearing problem.
Your child will NOT routinely have their hearing checked again at school, so if you are concerned about your child’s hearing it is important that you:
- Ask for a hearing check for your child the next time a Vision Hearing Technician
visits the school (if your child is at a preschool, primary or intermediate school); OR - Go to your doctor to get a referral to have your child’s hearing assessed by an
audiologist.
If your child does have a hearing problem, finding out early is good for their learning and development.
