From 6 October 2025 the age at which people start free bowel screening was lowered to 58 in the Northland, Auckland and South Island regions. The resources on this page have the age range for the rest of the country, which is 60-74. Please email bowelscreening@tewhatuora.govt.nz if you would like resources with the 58-74 age range.

Free - Do it at home

If you’re aged 60 to 74, you can have free bowel screening. A bowel screening test kit will be sent to your home every two years. This simple test can help find bowel cancer early when it can often be successfully treated. When you get the test, just do it! It could save your life.
